Y5 Visit Woolsthorpe Manor

Despite the rain, we had a super time looking at Isaac Newton's apple tree, exploring his actual home (even seeing his experiment diagrams drawn into the walls), firing our own rockets and investigating in the science museum.

Y6 Latin act the Roman Courts

As part of their Latin and classics lessons, Y6 have been learning about the Roman justice system and courts of law. After translating a short Latin story and playscript, they act the scene in the courts in Latin. Bene!

Y5 become first aid experts in their mini-medics course!

Y5 have enjoyed a hands-on afternoon of learning how to deliver essential first aid should they encounter a casualty. As well as learning how to use defibrillators, they developed the skills of CPR and correct application of bandages as well as treating people for choking and shock. We were all very impressed with their skills!

Y5 French treasure hunt

Y5 put their French skills to the test this morning by following directions in French to discover the secret password to gain their treasure. Great practice of French reading and speaking and listening skills.

Y6 hold their own French Cafe scenes in preparation for their visit at the end of term. They had to ask in French for the items they wanted to try and converse with the waitress correctly!

Y5 dissect hearts!

Y5 have enjoyed continuing their learning about the circulatory system by dissecting hearts! They really wowed with their knowledge of the four chambers and different blood vessels.

Y6 Classics morning at SHS

Y6 had a super visit to SHS today for a Classics morning where they experienced some higher level Latin. They started with an online vocabulary competition, followed by super acting of a newly learnt Greek myth and ended with some Latin root word competitions in groups. A great transition time for the girls attending Stamford in September too. Bene!
