Y6 CCS Gold Award Winners 2019

This year the CCS gold award winners were rewarded for their efforts with a trip to the Aqua Park at Rutland Water.

Some had been before but all were looking forward to a fun and exciting time on all the inflatable obstacles there were. Some were jumping from 5 metres, others from 2 or 3 and some doing the big slides. Many overcoming some of the fears and anxieties they had beforehand! This was fantastic to see!

After the main event, the children then had a picnic lunch which was followed by some participating in a football match and others partaking in circle games whilst they enjoyed their lollies!

There were even parachutist's landing into the water for them to watch also.

A very fun-filled day out for the CCS gold award winners and congratulations to you all!

Thank you to Mr Thomas, Mr Howitt & Miss Needham for attending, who also enjoyed it as much as the children did!

Y6 enjoy a Classics morning with SHS

Y6 had a fabulous morning with the Latin pupils from SHS completing lots of different classics activities together. We started the morning with some Roman numeral challenges. Following this, Y6 were put to work with a Harry Potter based Latin challenge, using Latin roots to understand the effects of spells and learn more about the characters’ names. Later in the morning, we studied the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, acting out our own interpretation of the stories. We evaluated Greek pottery and how the Ancient Greeks used these to tell stories before creating our very own versions. Wonderful work! Bene!

Y5 Visit Woolsthorpe Manor

Despite the rain, we had a super time looking at Isaac Newton's apple tree, exploring his actual home (even seeing his experiment diagrams drawn into the walls), firing our own rockets and investigating in the science museum.
